KUWANA, Mie (Kyodo) — Takumi Kanaya picked up his sixth career title on the top-tier Japanese men’s golf tour Sunday, winning the season-opening Token Homemate Cup by two strokes.
The 25-year-old from Hiroshima, who previously won the tournament in 2021, followed his third-round 64 with a 65 to finish at 23-under 261 at Token Tado Country Club in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture.
Kanaya carded seven birdies against a bogey in the final round to claim the winning prize of 26 million yen ($171,600).
Tatsunori Shogenji placed second after a final-round 65. Taihei Sato was alone in third at 19 under.
Kanaya’s six JGTO wins include the 2019 Taiheiyo Masters as an amateur.
